It would be an enormous omission not to blog about our trip to the 2022 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. A true ‘bucket list’ car show experience we’ll always remember! Our client was fortunate to be invited to the highly selective invitational show with his newly restored 1961 Graber bodied Alvis TD21 Special coupe. The original plan was to fly out and meet the commercial transporter with the car in California, but the transporter’s pick up date shifted. Instead, Wil and I (riding shotgun) transported the car across the US with our truck and trailer.

For lovers of cross-country trips, we took the speedy I-80 route out, passing by Donner Lake named after the ill-fated 1840s pioneer party. The northeastern quadrant of the US is not terribly interesting as seen from the interstate so our photos begin after the cornfields of Iowa have ended. On the way back we sped through Yellowstone Park, Wyoming and the South Dakota Badlands.

Enjoy the photos, and please do knock the annual Pebble Beach car show off your bucket list if you haven’t already experienced the show. Better yet, include the cross country trip in your favorite European sports or exotic car for the full adventure. As Janis Joplin sang, ‘Get it While You Can’ because many of these phenomenal US car show traditions have been discontinued or scaled down in recent years.
